Budgie, Charles Endell Esq and More Merchandise/Memorabilia
------------Fairly Recent Merchandise-------------
As many of you will know, Adam Faith managed the musician
Leo Sayer at one stage of his career, and this
re-release of Leo's "Just a Boy"
finally allows
all fans
to
obtain
what
has
become
a
rather
hard
to
find
work...
and now with the
bonus
of
digital
clarity!
Even more
importantly, this latest
version contains
a
track
called
"Praise the
Land",
which was used in
"Budgie";
Also included
on
here
is
the
song
"Reasons",
which
Leo
wrote for
Roger
Daltry and
actually appeared
on one of Roger's
solo
albums.
------
Adam Faith's superbly atmospheric album "I Survive",
(which contain 2 bonus tracks, with first time information
sleeve notes written by Nick
Dalton), is
avaialble
on
cd
from Angel Air.
ADAM
FAITH was an English singer, actor, manager and
financial analyst! Adam was
one of
the most successful pop
performers
of the 60’ s with for
example his
first 7
singles all
making Top 5 in the UK charts.
Life after the Beatles in the UK meant that he devoted more of his energies and natural talent on acting and appeared in a number of films and TV shows such as Beat Girl, Never Let Go, No Hiding Place and in the 70;s the much loved TV series Budgie.
In 1974 he released his comeback album I Survive which is considered by many to be one of the great unsung records of the 70' s.
Co-produced by friend, writer and business associate DAVID COURTNEY, engineered by MARTIN BIRCH, mastered by MICKIE MOST and with guest appearances from RITCHIE BLACKMORE, RUSS BALLARD, PAUL & LINDA McCARTNEY - this album had it all - great songs, first class musicians and sound. Now available on CD, remastered with extensive sleeve notes
Adam died of a heart attack on 8th March 2003.

1988
saw a
return
to
the
theatre by
Adam
Faith,
when he starred
alongside
Eastenders
star
Anita Dobson in
Budgie
The
Musical.
The
West End
of
London hosted the opening of
this splendily
acted
and
directed stage
musical
version
of the
1970s
television
series;
Unfortunately,
this
particular Budgie venture
was
not
well
received
by
certain
influential
critics,
(which
rumours
say, was
due more
to journalistic
snobbery
concerning
the
show's seedy
subject matter,
more
than anything else), and the
final
curtain
fell prematurely.
Both a vinyl lp and cd of the stage show
soundtrack were commercially
released ...if you can track
them
down
that
is.
Here is a poster of the event, which is well-worth collecting.

...and, how about
a single released from the Budgie stage production? by
Anita Dobson, (quite a rare item now)

Mens Vintage 1970s Faux Suede Jacket
This is in the style of the jacket Adam Faith wore in the Budgie TV series. He started a fashion craze at the time, and everyone was wearing jackets similar to this.
It has a typical 70s rounded collar is size small with zip front and two side zip pockets, and is slim fitting. The colour is black and gold.
These turn up very rarely and are highly sought-after.

Here's another style that
Budgie used to wear.
I recently came across this Adam Faith passport for sale on the net.
It was offered for sale
on a
memorabilia
site and
carried a price
tag of
several hundred
dollars.
The passport was issued in the stars real name, Terence Nelhams-Wright; beneath the 'name of bearer' section it is stated that he was ' professionally known as Adam Faith'.
It contains a small black and white photo of Adam which was
taken in the early 1970's,
with his
signature in black ink
on the
second
page.
This
was was issued on 29 August 1972, for
one year, but
was extended on 8
November
1973
until 29 August
1982.
There are
numerous visa and
entry
stamps
between England,
the Bahamas,
Amsterdam, Malaga,
Madrid, Nice,
Alicante,
Australia
and
New Zealand (for
the
1978
Leo
Sayer
tour)
and
over
fifty
entry
stamps
to
the
United
States.
Curious how Adam looks more like Budgie Bird in this picture, rather than the superstar he was meant to be in real life.
Is it true, (as many pundits were claiming at the time), that the role of Budgie had somehow taken Adam over? or maybe he was merely playing himself in the series?
